What are the most common conditions affecting the shoulder?

The shoulder is a ball and socket joint made up of three bones which rely on a large muscle group called the rotator cuff. The rotator cuff muscle group helps you complete simple tasks such as raising your arm above your head, combing your hair and putting on your clothes. It also plays a key role in more advanced activities like throwing a ball, swinging a racket or a golf club. Pain in your shoulder can be a result of overuse or an injury resulting in muscle tears and tendon ruptures. These injuries can be debilitating causing pain so serious that you cannot even lift your arm over your head.

At Premier Orthopaedic Associates of Southern New Jersey our team of orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine specialists have diagnosed, treated and repaired shoulder injuries with the latest treatments, techniques and minimally invasive procedures from the most common to the most complex conditions such as:

Bankart Lesion
Tendon Rupture of the Bicep
Collarbone (Clavicle) Fractures
Bursitis
Bone Spurs
Labral Tear
Olecranon Fracture
Fractures of the Radial Head
Arthritis in the Shoulder
Shoulder Impingement Syndrome
Shoulder Separation (Acromioclavicular Joint)
Superior Labrum Anterior to Posterior (SLAP Lesion Tear)
Injuries from Throwing

If your condition requires arthroscopy surgery, we have the latest technology used to inspect, diagnose and repair the shoulder joint. During a shoulder arthroscopy, a small video camera, attached to a fiber-optic lens, is inserted into the shoulder joint allowing the surgeon to see into the shoulder joint without making a large incision. With a clear understanding of your injury or condition, we’ve got you covered from discovery to recovery, focused on getting you back to the live you deserve.

If you are feeling pain in your shoulder that is lasting more than a week, or is the result of an injury seek medical attention immediately with one of our sports medicine or shoulder specialists.
